Marriage is an institution
that demands sanctity and honor. It is not a covenant that should be gotten into lightly. When vows are exchanged, the expectation of those witnesses who are present and God Himself in Heaven is this; that you honor those
marriage vows
"till death do you part".
Unfortunately life does not always provide us with the perfect example of faithful couples does it? So what can you do in this day and age to ensure that your marriage vows remain unbroken? Read on to find out...
Number one - Forsake All Others
This is so easy to say that many
people
actually wish that the "doing" of it would be as easy too. Forsaking all others simply means; "getting out of the market" or "retiring from active wild oats sowing".
And what does that mean? Well, put simply, it means that you can no longer chase after girls if you are a guy and if you are a girl, you can no longer invite the advances of
men
, period.
Number Two - Cling to Each Other
To successfully
honor your marriage
vows, you need to cling to your spouse. This means that you want to create a situation whereby you are your partner's best friend and vice versa in most areas of your lives - especially the important areas.
You want a situation where most of what you would term "successes" are achieved with your
husband / wife
by your side. When you finally arrive at your desired destination, you need to be able to turn to your side and see your beloved spouse right beside you sharing the moment with relish and pride.
Number Three - Honeymoon Yearly
As crazy as this may sound to you, honeymooning yearly is another way to ensure that you honor your marital vows and keep your
romance
fresh while at it. This period of time should be spent reminding yourselves why you fell in love in the first place.
Does
your marriage mean anything
to you? Use this time to let your spouse in on exactly how you feel about your marriage.
Just remember that you have a lot of supporters who are rooting for you daily and who believe that you will "finish strong". These are your friends and family - those witnesses who agreed with you on the day you said your vows. Those
lovely people
who cheered on as you kissed for the first time as husband and wife. Those people who still believe that your love will last forever. Do not disappoint them or yourselves - honor you wedding vows.
